A major operation above the Parnassusweg: a new viaduct

7-week mega job above the Parnassusweg 💪
On 6 July 2024, a major operation began above the Parnassusweg. We are demolishing part of an existing metro viaduct and then building a completely new viaduct in its place. A mega job that we are working on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
‘Normally you spend about six months building a new viaduct,’ says Jurri-Jan Vrielink, head of work preparation at Bouwcombinatie Nieuw-Zuid (Mobilis, Boskalis Nederland and Van Gelder Groep). ‘That is simply not possible now, because at the Parnassusweg we have to deal with trams, road traffic, cyclists and pedestrians. We have to demolish, remove material and bring in prefab material again: an incredibly complex job in the middle of so much activity. To limit the disruption, we are carrying out the work during the 7-week closure of the northernmost metro track.’
Oleg Grooten, Director of Employ Enjoy Working: Proud to be back at the Zuidas in Amsterdam, now with Employ Enjoy Working. With a large group of formwork carpenters, we are contributing to this extensive operation. Our skilled workers certainly do not lack the commitment and willingness to postpone their holidays. Respect to everyone on the project for how they deal with the changing weather conditions and shift work.
Together on our way to a top performance that will be remembered 💪
