A major operation over Parnassus Road, a new viaduct.

On July 6, 2024, a major operation began over Parnassusweg. We are demolishing part of an existing subway viaduct and then building back a whole new one. A monster job, on which we are working 24/7.

‘Normally you spend about six months building a new viaduct,’ says Jurri-Jan Vrielink, head of work preparation at Bouwcombinatie Nieuw-Zuid (Mobilis, Boskalis Nederland and Van Gelder Groep). ‘That is simply not possible now, because we have to deal with streetcar traffic, road traffic, cyclists and pedestrians at Parnassusweg. We have to demolish, remove materials, and also bring prefab materials back in – an incredibly complicated job amid so much dynamism. To limit inconvenience, we are carrying out the work during the 7-week shutdown of the northernmost metro line.

Oleg Grooten – Director Employ Enjoy Working: Proud to be back with Employ enjoy working on the Zuidas Amsterdam. We are working with a large group of concrete carpenters on this extensive operation. The commitment and willingness to postpone their vacations will certainly not be lacking among our craftsmen. Respect for everyone on the project for how they deal with the changing weather conditions and shift work.
Together we are on our way to a top performance that will stay with us💪.
